From the studio

Between packing up the last Through Our Hands exhibition and getting ready for the next there's not been much time for blogging. I'm sure everyone else showing work or having a stand at Festival of Quilts shares my last minute whirlwind of jobs. Well at least I hope they do, maybe it's just me who leaves everything till the night before!

I wanted to whet your appetite with another glimpse of our quilt for the TOH exhibition stand (G28). There's a lot of quilting on this one and I've been burning the midnight oil to get it done. This is one of my favourite areas...

Quilting the digital print of the sgraffito painting has been really interesting. I've stuck to one thread colour to keep things simple, but gone for it with the amount of quilting. Please excuse the rather ropey photo, it's hard to get a good shot at night!

We have a surprise in store with this quilt so please do come and find us to discover what we're up to.

I have been on best behaviour and not distracted by my new overlocker. Well I made one pair of leggings while I waited for the potatoes to boil the other night. They literally took less than 10 minutes to sew. I worked out that based on the price of £5 for a pair of kids leggings in the shop, I'd have to sew 60 pairs to make the machine pay for itself. No problem! I have 5 cut out ready to make up, but I will wait until my Festival jobs are all done. The first pair went down a treat, even though my usually willing model refused to face camera!

Bye for now,
Laura

  3. Did you use the longarm to quilt? I really should put mine to use more often! Glad you're liking the Husky. Your so lucky to have the fabric supply at such great prices.

    1. Yes, I've got the Gammill in my studio so I'm using it for nearly all my quilting. Can't have it taking up space and not earn it's keep!

  4. Loving the way the quilting at the top makes the white circles appear like wet paint. And know what you mean re last-minute jobs before FoQ - I have sooo much to do tonight (it was 3am last night!).
